Largely untouched by modern development and unknown to most tourists, this area is particularly inviting to active sports participants and those eager to discover the Flores rich variety of fauna and flora.

o Pede Beach - a weekend excursion for local people 2 km south of Labuan Bajo.
o Binongko Beach - nice beaches for swimming, a picnic or for beachcombing hikes. Located 2 km to the northeast of Labuan Bajo.
o On the north side of Labuan Bajo are small beaches easily reached on foot or by bicycle from the city centre.
* Numerous natural trails suitable for hiking or mountain biking on the outskirts of the city.
* Good panoramic views from small restaurants and inns dotting the shore line of Labuan Bajo.
